Command-line operations

Parse one operator command, compose a typed request, stream honest progress and finish with a machine-readable result.

Workflow

  1. Parse operator commandParse the command without guessing an operation or silently dropping unknown options.
  2. Compose request sessionCreate the session and typed request context used by the operation.
  3. Print named refusalInvalid commands, unavailable operations and rejected controls end with a stable refusal and no false completion.
  4. Start or control workDispatch only a supported operation or control. The CLI is a consumer; it does not redefine engine policy.
  5. Stream progressTranslate observed events without inventing counts or reporting a requested control as acknowledged.
  6. Return terminal resultPrint a stable terminal response and set the exit status from the explicit outcome.

Failure boundaries

  • Unknown optionUsage refusal: Correct command
  • Control remains pendingNo completion claim: Wait or inspect
  • Output cannot be parsedCLI contract gap: Use human output cautiously
